JAMES CASSIE RSA RSW

1819 - 1879
James Cassie came from Aberdeenshire and was taught by James Giles. As a result of a childhood accident Cassie was disabled and so chose painting as a career. Early work was of people and animals but he later painted land and seascapes. He died at Edinburgh, in the same year in which he became an academician.
